Winter is always a good time to learn new things and this season lots of time inside has got me doing more inside the house. I decided to finish my basement this year so I can now do expert framing, drywall finishing, painting of course and as a challenge to myself I decided on something a bit ambitious. Pictures are coming as things progress but lots of them are already on the project portfolio page of some custom cabinetry I am adding to increase storage space so have a look. This stuff is NOT easy, but persistence and research is paying off and it is coming out better than expected. Plans include some custom bookshelves and artsy epoxy work. I have been learning how to reproduce natural stone appearances with epoxy. This process is pretty versatile and can be used on furniture, counter tops, floors and walls even, and some very impressive one off looks are possible. The outcome is a durable surface material you can apply to anything that feels like glass, except you can smack it with a hammer without leaving a mark. I can make plywood look just like expensive granite in one day! Anyone want a new kitchen? LOL
